Hong Kong Baptist Hospital is always dedicated to fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the aim of spreading God’s love and care. In collaborating with charitable organisations and NGOs, we participate in activities covering aspects of Medical Related Projects, Environment, Volunteer, and Charity to support the underprivileged and needy, so as to build up a harmonious community.

Medical Related Projects

Riding on our medical professionalism, we offer free health screening programmes and operation subsidy to serve the needs of different groups of people:

• Participated in Cataract Surgeries Programme (CSP), and supported the CUHK Medical Centre 40th Anniversary and Community Service Programme to provide free eye checks for elderly;
• Supported children suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) through sponsoring prizes of charity raffle tickets;
• Supported the underprivileged by providing full subsidy on total knee replacement operations and treatments taken in HKBH;
• Cooperated with Hong Kong Association for Cleft Lip and Palate since 2019 to support the Charity Treatment Project for Cleft Lip and Palate Patients through subsidising operations and treatments taken in HKBH;
• Joined Department of Health’s Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme since 2016, and participated in Hospital Authority’s Colon Assessment Public-Private Partnership Programme (Colon PPP) for public hospital patients;
• Being the first local medical organisation to support the Relief & Charity Service (RCS) Bed Program in Haven of Hope Sister Annie Skau Holistic Care Centre (SASHCC) since 2012.

Environment

“Think and act green” plays an important role in our workplace and therefore we introduce a series of environmental policies and organise activities to raise staff’s awareness in saving our planet:

• Supported Green Power Hike every year since 2017, and received the “Green Merit Award” in 2022.
  In 2023, we organized 7 teams with total 28 staff joined “Medical Services Cup”.We successfully gained three awards on “1st Runner up” at 50km, 25km and 10km and further gained “Green Enthusiast Award” and “Supreme Green Award”.
    
• Organise collection of materials regularly including toner cartridges, mixed metal, plastic, carton boxes, red packets, and etc. for recycling, together with donation of computer products, second-hand apparels, and books to social welfare organizations.

Volunteer

Our team “Volunteer 222” joins hands with other community charities and NGOs to connect people from different sectors and share the vision of helping and giving:

• Collaborated with Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service and organised two “Blood Donation Day” in 2021, with a record of blood donation from 111 staff. The “Blood Donation Day” was also held in 2022, totally 66 participants joined with a record of 55 successful blood donations.
• Invited representatives from CLP Power to share building and promoting corporate volunteer culture, and to continue fulfilling corporate social responsibilities through staff’s devotion in expressing love and care, especially during pandemics.
• In 2023, the kick-off ceremony of “Volunteer 222” was held. Many staff energetically took part in the volunteer team for volunteer service.

Charity

We organise different types of meaningful and creative activities to support charitable organisations in achieving the goal of serving others with love and kindness.

• Donated HKBH brand ASTM Level 3 surgical masks to churches and organisations to support the community.
• Took part in Christian Action’s 3-Legged Charity Walk 2021 (online version) with HKBH Ambulatory Medical Centre being the title sponsor. With 225 staff participated, we won the “Highest Fundraising Amount Award” and “Strongest Troupe Corporate Award”.
  In 2023, we still sponsored the Christian Action’s 3-Legged Charity Walk and received “Gold Sponsor” award.

• Supported the World Vision’s “SKIP-A-MEAL” through organising in-house Talent Shows for fundraising and won championship in “Highest Fundraising Amount Award” and first runner-up in “Highest Number of Participants Award” in 2021.Until 2023, we have won the championship in “Highest Fundraising Amount Award” for 3 consecutive years and “Highest Number of Participants Award” for 2 consecutive years.
