Scope of Services
- Antenatal Education
Antenatal class with 4 sessions is regularly provided by the hospital in Cantonese. Topics covered include health education, knowledge related to antenatal, prenatal issues, as well as advices on infant care and breastfeeding. **Clients who have paid deposit at the Maternity Ward are entitled to join the classes free of charge.
- Antenatal Services
Labour pain does cause a lot of anxiety to the mother. In addition to providing Pharmacological pain relief method, we provide different Non-pharmacological pain relief methods such as fit ball, childbirth massage and aromatherapy for your selection. Please discuss with the medical or nursing staff for the best pain relief measure that fits your needs.
- Nursery
In addition to the most comprehensive care to all the newborns delivered in the Hospital, our nursery unit actively promotes and supports breast feeding. Skin-to-skin contact within the first two hours right after birth is important to the bonding between mothers and babies, as well as success in breast feeding. Our professional nursing staff will do the best to facilitate the intimate contact between mothers and babies in this sensitive and critical hours.
Nurturing mothers and babies in a caring and cozy environment are the utmost responsibility for us. Hong Kong Baptist Hospital has attained registration of intent from Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Hong Kong Association, and we are approaching to achieve full accreditation in the coming years, aim to provide baby-friendly environment and memorable experience for every mother in our unit.
A Special Care Baby Unit is set up to provide intensive care for premature babies or babies who require high dependency and special nursing care.

Normal Spontaneous Delivery Package

Items / service include: 1. Room charges for 3 days and 2 nights (from the day of delivery) 2. Three standard nutritive meals per day (from the day of delivery) 3. One set of maternity kit (personal utilities, mesh pants, under pads, maternity pads and cleansing bottles) 4. Blood test for blood group and antibodies 5. Continuous fetal heart monitoring 6. Nursing care and close monitoring during hospitalization 7. Delivery room charge including basic facilities and equipments 8. Analgesic injections, Entonox (N2O) and local anaesthetic drugs 9. Admission Notes
- If there is show, leaking or onset of labour, please come to the hospital immediately. For enquiry, please call your attending obstetrician or our Maternity Unit at 2339 8418.
- On admission, please bring relevant documents including: – Expectant mother and spouse’s Identity card, or valid travel documents (for non-HKSAR residents), Confirmation Certificate on Delivery Booking (Mainland expectant mothers only), Doctor’s admission letter, antenatal blood test reports, budget estimation form and official receipt of advance deposit for maternity booking.
- For Elective Caesarean Section, please be admitted six hours prior to the time of surgery and no eating or drinking for six to eight hours before the operation (or as per doctor’s instructions).
- If the caesarean section is in the morning, mother shall admit after 2 pm one day in advance (additional room fees will be charged on the day)
- Normal Operating hour:
Monday to Saturday 7:30am – 9:30pm (except Sunday and Public Holidays except)
- Please select the room type on the day of antenatal booking and join the Maternity package plan according to the birth method.
- If the room type is changed during the stay, the higher fee will prevail
- Expectant mothers are advised not bring any valuable items
- Check out time on discharge day is at or before 1pm
Excluded items
- All physicians’ consultation fee including Obstetric, Paediatric, Anaesthetic, other Specialist and vaginal delivery conduction fees by midwife.
- All special nursing care and equipment fees for abnormal conditions during the antepartum, labour and postpartum periods.
- The administration of Hepatitis B immunoglobin vaccine to newborns at birth if their mothers are Hepatitis B carriers.
- Trail of labour expenses (Applicable for Caesarean Section deliveries).
- Induced delivery during Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
- Multiple births.
- Using of forceps or vacuum extraction to assist vaginal birth.
- Fees for special examinations, treatments and care of newborn.
- All infant formula.
- All expenses of service and bed charge which is out of the list of maternity packages.
- Baby boarding fee.
- Maternity Administration fees (Applicable for Mainland China Residents).
Note: If you do not participate the Maternity Package, additional 25-50% of service charges will be levied base on the room class.

1. Procedure of paying deposit:
1.1 Document required Maternity Booking Form bearing the Antenatal Booking No. and date of confinement

1.3 Paying procedure:
1.3.1 Pay in person
Present identity document of the expectant mother
- HK Residents – HK Identity Card
- Foreigners – Passport
- Copy of HK identity document of the expectant mother is required if payment is made by representative.
OR
- Deadline: within one month from the date when Antenatal Booking No. is given.
Non-HK Residents (Mainland China)
- Procedure:
- Expectant mother must come with her husband in person to pay Deposit and collect the Confirmation Certificate on Delivery Booking. Representative will not be accepted.
- Expectant mother must complete the first antenatal check-up in Hong Kong and provide doctor’s letter bearing the Antenatal Booking No. (non-transferable) and Date of Confinement as well as the completed Maternity Registration Form.
- The Couple must present the valid original copy of :
- Expectant mother’s Exit-Entry Permit for Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, and Mainland China Identity Card
- The Husband’s :
- HK Permanent Resident Identity Card, OR
- HK Identity Card AND One-way Permit to HK and Macau (前往港澳通行證, 俗稱「單程證」)
- Marriage Certificate of the Couple issued by HKSAR Government, OR
- For marriage certificate issued in the Mainland, an extra proof of the marriage notarized by a Notary Public in the Mainland China should also be required;
- For overseas marriage certificate, an extra proof of the certificate signing officer issued by the PRC Embassy of the country;
- Both the husband and the wife have to take oaths provided from Home Affairs Department separately for proof
- Deadline: within one month from the date when Antenatal Booking No. is given.
