Patient's Guide

1.To be referred by the attending physician.
2.Please bring the following for registration at Admission Office, G/F of Block B:

• Admission Documents / Budget Estimate Form / Insurance Claim Form (if any)
• Identity Document
• Relatives or guarantor’s ID card or passport(If patient is under the age of 18)
• Deposit, medical insurance card or a letter of guarantee from the approved credit account or insurance company

3.Please bring along your personal amenities, pajamas, slippers etc. Supplies by the Hospital are chargeable items.

1. For the serenity and well-being of patients:
• please keep the Hospital environment quiet and peaceful;
• not more than two visitors per patient per visit is recommended.

2. Patients are strongly advised not to keep any valuables or excessive cash in the room during their hospital stay. Personal belongings and mobile phone should be secured in the locker. The Hospital will not be responsible for any loss or missing of personal belonging.

3. Please keep away from medical equipment when you use mobile phone in the ward area.

4. In accordance with laws :
• DO NOT give any tips or gifts to our staff in order not to contravene the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance;
• no gambling of any form in the Hospital;
• smoking is prohibited.

5. The following activities are not allowed within the hospital premises :
• carrying any animals;
• use of electric appliances;
• bringing food with strong smell (e.g. durian) ;
• no washing or hang dry of cloth is not allowed;
• burning of incense, joss sticks or others.

6. Patient Safety
• Call Bell: Call bells are equipped at each bedside console and toilets, allowing patients or visitors to call for help from the healthcare staff at any time if assistance is needed.
• Fall Prevention: For the fall risk patient, if the bedside rail has been lowered during your visitation, please have them raised up before you leave the ward. To promote “Less Restraint”, our Hospital would suggest high fall risk patients to use fall alarm pad. Please seek help from healthcare staff for details.

7. During your stay in ward :
• please do not leave the ward. Prior notice must be given to nurse if so required;
• only the hospital staff is allowed to adjust the air-conditioning;
• please use the ward facilities and equipment with care. The Hospital reserves the right to demand compensation for damage, if any.

8. Companion Bed:
Female rooms: Female Companion only (except Private Rooms)
Other rooms: Male or female companion

9. Except private class, service hour of TVs in ward is 7:00am to 12:00 midnight.

10. For the protection of patient and staff privacy, audio/video recording or photography in hospital premises without authorization is not allowed.

11. To the best interest of the child, parents or the designated caregiver is encouraged to accompany the children at all times during the hospitalization stay in the Paediatric ward.

• Please scan the dedicated QR code in the ward to connect to the real-time system to order food, which is convenient and fast. (You may also dial the extension 8818 or 8819 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm to make an order)
• Please contact the nurses to order therapeutic diets if needed.
• Meal charges will be included in the hospital bill.
• If there are individual religious dietary needs, caregivers please make the meal plans.
• Visitors may also enjoy the hospital restaurant service.
• Meal delivery service is available from 7:00 am to 9:30 pm.

• If a telephone extension is available, patients can press “9” for an outside line.

• WiFi access service are available at wards and some areas . Patients may access internet with their own notebook computer.

• We may arrange fax transmission for patients. A handling fee plus the tolls will be charged.

• Our staff speak Cantonese, Putonghua and English. As necessary, the Hospital may connect patients to external interpretation service to facilitate their communication with the care providers. Patients will need to pay for the service.

• Paid parking is available at Block C on hourly basis. Please note that due to operational needs, sometimes visitor parking is suspended during morning sessions.

• The Hong Kong Baptist Hospital provides clinical practicum training for nursing students of different higher education institutions. All nursing students are supervised by experienced and qualified nurse mentors to provide high-quality of care to our clients. Besides, our hospital maintains a positive organizational culture to promote nursing professional development and encourage continuous nursing education

• Visiting Hours

1. A discharge advice signed by your attending doctor is required before we process your discharge.

2. The discharge bill will be sent to you in the ward in approximately 60 minutes from the time when the attending doctor completes the discharge document. For maternity, a longer processing time is usually required as we need to process the bills for the mother and the baby together.

3. Please present the discharge bill and deposit receipt to the Cashier for settlement. If hospital charges are to be paid by an approved credit account, please bring along the relevant documents to the Cashier e.g. company’s undertaking, insurance card and Hong Kong Identity Card. Patient will be required to sign on the hospital bill.

4. Please collect your medicine. (If applicable)

5. Access Your Own Medical Record

• You may request access to your own record for a handling fee with an application in writing. Please contact our Medical Records Department for information.(Hotline: 2339-8824)
• If your doctor is not our resident doctor, please contact him/her directly if filling of an insurance claim form/ a medical report is required.
