Historic Developments
Began as a small clinic, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (HKBH) started to provide medical services in the 1950s. With God’s blessing and guidance, it gradually expanded and commenced full operation in 1963. Nowadays, HKBH has become a well-developed, full-scale private hospital. Remains at the heart of the hospital’s healthcare team is the commitment to embrace professionalism and strive for excellence, and the unwavering undertaking to deliver quality health care services in innovative and diversified approach to meet the evolving needs of the society.
2016 to present
2018 - Receive ACHS accreditation for the third time with all 47 items passed, with Infection Control and Blood Management acheiving Excellent grade
2018 - Installation of Cyclotron and PET-MR at Nuclear Medicine and PET Centre
2018 - 4d Computed Tomography at Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre
2018 - Introduction of Brachytherapy and Tomotherapy at Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre
2019 - Installation of the first Azurion 7 Biplane image-guided therapy system in Southeast Asia
2019 - Acquisition of work site for East Kowloon Medical Centre in Ngau Tau Kok
2020 - Set up house brand surgical mask production line in fighting against COVID-19
2020 - Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Ambulatory Medical Centre in service
2021 - Healthcare Asia Awards: Covid Management Initiative of the Year - Hong Kong & Hospital of the Year - Hong Kong

2011 - Opening of Kai Tak Community Health Centre
2012 - Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) receives British Standards Institutions (BSI) accreditation
2012 - Opening of Fanling Logistic Centre
2013 - Golden Jubilee Conference themed "Excellence in Care"
2014 - Achieve Guinness World Record in "Hand Sanitizing Relay"; titled as "Foundation Hospital" by WHO

1997 - Cooperate with School of Continuing Education, Hong Kong Baptist University in opening Chinese Medicine Clinic
2000 - Trent Accreditation
2002 - Installation of Hong Kong's first PET-CT Scan
2006 - Installation of one the world's first ten dual source CT scanners
2007 - Hong Kong's first minimally invasive endoscopic operating theatre in use
2008 - Block D in use
2010 - One of the first batch hospitals in receiving Australian Council on Healthcare Standards Accreditation

1974 – Southern Baptist Convention stopped funding; Baptist Hospital runs on a self-financing basis
1977 - Installation of the world's most advanced computer scanning system
1979 - The 3-storey Bradbury Wing in use
1982 - Opening of East Wing (later renamed as Lam Shu-kee Building; Existing Block B)
1983 - Opening of Nursing School
1983 - Opening of Au Shue Hung Health Centre
1987 - Co-organise the first Clinical Pastoral Education course with The Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary
1987 - Opening of Lady Lily Shaw Building (Block C) and Radiotherapy Department

1952 - The Baptist Convention of Hong Kong set up Medical Affairs Department
1956 - Set up Hong Kong Baptist Clinic (2/F 76A Waterloo Road)
1963 - Grand Opening of Main Block (existing Block A); Baptist Clinic relocates to Outpatient Department
1967 - Set up Eye Clinic Vehicle (donated by Mu Kuang Foundation) offering eye check for children
