Historic Developments

Began as a small clinic, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (HKBH) started to provide medical services in the 1950s.  With God’s blessing and guidance, it gradually expanded and commenced full operation in 1963.  Nowadays, HKBH has become a well-developed, full-scale private hospital.  Remains at the heart of  the hospital’s healthcare team is the commitment to embrace professionalism and strive for excellence, and the unwavering undertaking to deliver quality health care services in innovative and diversified approach to meet the evolving needs of the society.

2021 - Healthcare Asia Awards: Covid Management Initiative of the Year - Hong Kong & Hospital of the Year - Hong Kong

2022 – HKBH supported the community by establishing the “Confirmed COVID Patients Out-Patient Clinic”, and provided telemedicine service. Additionally, HKBH actively supported Hospital Authority (HA), and provided 177 beds for 156 non-Covid 19 confirmed patients referred from public hospitals as of 15 March 2023.

2023 - Awarded the Asia Hospital Management Award, winning the gold medal in the “Best in Talent Development” category for the project “Innovative Centralization Leads to Talent Development and Service Enhancement in HKBH”

2023 - Received comprehensive certification and the “ACHSI Quality Improvement Award – Highly Commended Award” from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standard International

2023 - Celebrating 60 years of service to the public, the HKBH organized various activities, including “Excellence in Care” thematic seminar, health talks, Certificate Course in Intensive Care Nursing, Thanksgiving Dinner, and Thanksgiving Worship Sessions

2024 - HKBH received the “Sustainable Development Enterprise Recognition Certificate” and the "Outstanding ESG Enterprise Award" from HK01, acknowledging the hospital’s efforts in promoting ESG and sustainable development

2024 - HKBH East Kowloon Medical Centre (EKMC), the first Day Procedure Centre under the HKBH opened for service with effect from 30 December

2025 - To embark on the 10-year long of the “Expansion Project of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital”, during which Blocks A, B, and C will be redeveloped and re-built by phase. Before the demolition of Block A, HKBH organized the "Thanksgiving & Farewell to Block A" Event on 7 March.

2020 — During the COVID-19 pandemic, HKBH produced ASTM Level III standard surgical masks by an in-house brand production line. HKBH also dispatched over a hundred medical volunteers to support the government and actively assisted with community testing and vaccinations

2020 —To respond to the pandemic, HKBH introduced intelligent robots to assist with disinfection and cleaning in high-risk areas to enhance environmental hygiene
