Managed by Resident Consultants in Paediatrics and a Clinical Psychologist, the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Paediatric and Adolescent Centre provides holistic clinical services for children and adolescents (0-18 year-old). Apart from the provision of specialized outpatient services, through comprehensive assessment and treatment, we aim to assist the children and their families in understanding and coping with difficulties, obstacles and changes that they encounter through comprehensive assessment and treatment, so as to help the children realise their full potential.

Our assessment and treatment services for children and adolescents with developmental, emotional and behavioural disorders are provided by experienced paediatricians. The scope of services includes:

	Developmental disorders (e.g. developmental delay, fine and gross motor problems or speech disorders)
	Autism or social and communication deficits
	Attention deficit / hyperactivity disorders
	Emotional and behavioural disorders of children and adolescents
	Specific learning difficulties
	Children and adolescent eating disorders (e.g. Anorexia or Bullimia)
	Paediatric cognitive assessment and assessment for gifted child

Through systematic assessment tools, children are assessed in six main areas, including gross motor, fine motor, language, cognitive, social and self care aspects.

Assessment report will be provided for both Paediatric Developmental Assessment and Autism or Social and Communication Deficits Assessment. To shorten the waiting time, referral for government integrated program in child care centre (Early Education Training Centre/ Integrated Programme in Child Care Centre/ Special Child Care Centre) or other training centres would be arranged by our paediatrician when appropriate.

Medical or behavioural treatment will be offered according to the assessment results.

Physical Check-up (including growth and basic developmental assessment) Emotional and Behavioural Assessment, assessment tools include: Paediatric Symptom Checklist Child Behaviour Checklist ages 6-18 years old Youth Self Report for ages 11 - 18 years old Adolescent Developmental Assessment HEADSS Assessment is used to assess the adolescent developmental stages and the psychosocial wellbeing

Notes : Selection of the assessment tools for all the above assessments depends on individual cases. Treatment or arrangement for referral services will be provided according to the assessment results.

Apart from Resident Consultant in Paediatrics, our team also includes an experienced clinical psychologist who provides clinical psychology services, standardized intellectual assessments and tests for specific learning difficulties in reading and writing.

We offer assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow up to common paediatric allergic disorders such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, urticaria and food allergy. Investigations including skin allergic test, specific IgE testing are provided to help the diagnosis of the aforementioned diseases.
