Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is non-invasive imaging technology, which bases on interactions between radiofrequency waves and certain nuclei in the body under a strong magnetic field to produce multi-dimensional detailed anatomical images without the use of radiation. It has a wide range of clinical applications as it provides excellent soft tissue contrast.

Clinical Applications and System Features

Stroke: MRI is highly sensitive to detect early stroke with diffusion weighted imaging. We provide comprehensive stroke packages for stroke detection and assessment of vasculatures of the brain and neck.
Spine: MRI is an important diagnostic tool for patients suffering from neck and back pain, as it clearly shows the bones, disks, and spinal cord, as well as the spaces between the vertebral bones where nerves pass through.
Cancer: MRI plays an important role in cancer diagnosis, staging and treatment planning. With MRI, we can distinguish between normal and diseased tissue. It is also useful for revealing metastases.
Musculoskeletal: The use of MRI is prominent in the evaluation of musculoskeletal conditions, as it is sensitive in detecting problems in joint, muscle, tendon and ligament.
Heart: MRI of the heart may be performed for further evaluation of signs or symptoms that may suggest myocardial infarction, ischemia, cardiomyopathy or congenital heart disease.

The high-performance scanners particularly aim at providing optimal image quality with powerful magnetic gradient, advanced magnet homogeneity and shimming functions. The core Tim (Total imaging matrix) 4G ultra-high integrated coil technology provides excellent image quality of the entire body and achieve significant reduction of scan times. While Dot (Day optimizing throughput) engine allows patient personalization and exam automation to optimize workflow. In our scanner lineup the 70 cm open bore, 145cm ultra-short gantry scanner can better facilitate patients with claustrophobia, by exposing more head or leg regions to open area during scanning.


Patients with cardiac pacemakers and metallic implants may be contraindicated to MRI examination. Please seek advice from your doctor.
Restless patients and children may need sedation before examination.


During an MRI, you will rest on a table and slides into a large tunnel-shaped scanner. Some exams require intravenous injection of contrast medium for better depiction of diseases. The procedure is painless and typically takes 30-45 minutes. As there will be constant drumming noise during scanning, ear plugs or ear phones will be provided. During the examination, you can freely communicate with our staff via intercoms. You can eat or drink as usual after the examination.
