Our MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Centre proudly presents the latest technology in MRI, the first 1.5 Tesla and 3 Tesla systems with TIM (Total Imaging Matrix) system in the world which combines up to 76 - 102 matrix coil elements and up to 32 radiofrequency channels to one imaging matrix - scanning of head, thorax, abdomen, and extremities, all at once. Our MRI Centre is the first and only centre in Hong Kong that operates both 1.5T and 3T MRI system with TIM technology, and is expected to streamline the workflow of whole body imaging in as little as 12 minutes.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a significant breakthrough in medical technology. MRI is a multiplanar imaging method based on an interaction between radiofrequency electromagnetic fields and certain nuclei in the body after the body has been placed in a strong magnetic field. MRI demonstrates normal tissues and can differentiate between normal and abnormal tissues, providing a sensitive examination to detect disease. This non-invasive procedure is painless, and does not require surgery or use of radiation. MRI creates detailed images, allowing physicians to look insides the body with precision. This aids in early diagnosis of various illnesses and in planning treatment of injury and illness.
