Pathology

The Pathology Laboratory provides high quality clinical laboratory services, which undertake investigations on specimens as an aid to the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients, and provides specialist interpretation and advice. The various disciplines of the Pathology Laboratory are Blood Bank, Clinical Biochemistry, Cytology, Endocrinology, Haematology, Histopathology, Immunology and Clinical Microbiology.

The Laboratory provides the following services for in-patients, out-patients and referral patients:

• Routine tests for Histopathology, Cytology, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Biochemistry, Endocrinology, Immunology, Haematology and Serology.
• 24-hour Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Serology, Microbiology and essential test services.
• 24-hour Blood Bank service
• The Pathology Laboratory liaises with other sources for services which are not provided by the Laboratory. Such services are provided as Contract-out Tests and thus handling charge will be incurred to the patient in this case.

The Laboratory provides laboratory services of all disciplines during normal working hours for in-patients, out-patients and referral patients. Laboratory services for essential tests are also available outside normal working hours, additional laboratory charges may be incurred according to the Hospital policies. Other urgent special laboratory tests can be arranged with the individual laboratories by doctors or nursing staff.

Service Hours:

Normal service will be maintained during Typhoon Signal No.1 and No.3 as well as all rainstorm signals.
