Important Instructions for Pre-operative Eye Screening
- The screening will take about 2 to 3 hours.
- If you wear contact lenses, you must stop wearing them in order to obtain an accurate evaluation of your eyes and vision.
- Soft contact lenses: you should stop wearing them 7 days prior to the evaluation
- Rigid gas-permeable or hard contact lenses: you should stop wearing them three weeks prior to the evaluation
- A comprehensive eye screening will be performed, including:
- Refraction
- Intraocular pressure
- Examination on tear quality and quantity
- Measurement of the diameter of pupil
- Measurement of the Corneal Topography together with the corneal thickness
- Identification of higher order aberrations by Wavefront technology
- Fundus examination
- During the screening process, your pupils are dilated. Your vision will be blurry and your eyes will be highly sensitive to light for the coming 4 to 6 hours after the screening. You are recommended to wear sunglasses right after the examination and not to drive for the rest of the day.
