Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre

Radiation therapy is one of the main methods for cancer mangement. Many cancer patients are treated by radiation therapy alone or in combination with surgery or chemotherapy.

The Radiotherpay and Oncology Centre offers state-of-the-art expertise and equipments to provide clinical evaluation, treatment planning, individualised radiation therapy and follow-up care. The Centre represents the Hospital's dedication to quality patient care that is reliable, accurate and effective. Our technical facilities include:

  • 2 latest networked Precise Linear Accelerators with IGRT
    (Both X-ray and electron modes are possible with a total of 11 different energies)
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (X-knife) planning and isocentric subsystem for X-knife treatment delivery
  • Radiographic simulator with cone beam CT capability
  • Computerised tomography with PET capability for therapy planning and after-care
  • 4 dedicated 3D treatment planning workstations with IMRT capabilities
  • Record and verification system able to monitor the treatment position
  • Mould room technology with customised blocking and moulds
  • Workshop for production of positioning, immobilization and fixation devices
  • Computer network for patient treatment planning


The Stereotactic Radiosurgery

The Stereotactic Radiosurgery System offers a non-surgical, safe and effective modality for the treatment of a wide variety of brain pathologies with the least trauma and complications. Application extents to treat head and neck cancer like nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Clinical Applications:

  • Small and medium sized arteriovenous malformations
  • Malignant brain tumours such as malignant gliomas and brain metastases
  • Benign non-invasive tumours such as pituitary adenomas, acoustic neuromas and meningiomas
  • Identifiable residual tumours not removed during surgery
  • Modification of functional targets in the brain such as the thalamus
  • Tumour in children
  • Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma booster treatment
